Pastor Dan Sheard has a heart to see his congregations seek God and know Him intimately. He holds prayer as a high priority.
He and his family are coming to us most recently from 2 terms on the mission field with International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention where they served in both French Guiana and Martinique planting churches. They speak French and some Creole. Previous to their international work, Dan pastored a Southern Baptist church near Buffalo, New York for 7 years.
Dan recently received his Ph.D. in Preaching from Spurgeon's College in London. He holds a Masters of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary and a Master of Christian Studies from Regent College in Vancouver,Canada. He is also a graduate of Taylor University in Upland, Indiana. He has also done additional doctoral work in the field of education.
Dan's wife Sue, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in music from Messiah college and is a wonderful musician. The Lord uses her voice and piano to glorify Himself. Their four awesome children are Lauren, Andrew, Rebekah, and Benjamin.
Most importantly is what is on their hearts. They desire to live and minister in simplicity with love. Dan wants to communicate for the common person and be understood by the smallest child and the most hard of hearing. Most of us don't want complex sermons when we come to church; we just want a simple and encouraging message that we are not embarrassed to bring our friends to hear. We want humor and good music, not necessarily with flash and dash. We want most of all to know that God is present and He hears the deepest longings of our hearts. That is our pastor's vision here at Calvary.

Charles and his wife Jodi have served in Cecil County for the past 10 years. Charles and Jodi most recently served as Youth Pastor at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Port Deposit. They have a son Connor and currently reside in Port Deposit. Charles has a great love for reaching teens and leading them into ministry. Charles is a graduate of Pensacola Christian College and has been in Christian Education and Youth Ministry for over 12 years. Charles and Jodi have a desire to see Christians truly demonstrate Christ like characteristics, by knowing God and loving God through Loving People.
